Austra – Future Politics [Domino Recording, 2017]

This is the first best album I heard this year. ‘Future Politics’ marks the most mature and experimental electronic pop sound from the synthpop persona of Katie Stelmanis. It makes totally sense that pop should sound like that in these dark days we live in. You may see her floating in an distant icy utopia but she only wants to grab your hand. In the end you realize that her voice tends to make you so vulnerable and that’s the true blue truth. Embrace that moment and you will feel alive.

12. Jenny Hval – Blood Bitch

The Norwegian avant-gardist Jenny Hval made an experimental pop record about vampires, blood and death. I am so glad I found the time to give this record the proper attention. ‘Secret Touch’ is such a great song.

13. Agnes Obel – Citizen of Glass

14. Dan Lissvik – Midnight

15. Anohni – Hopelessness

16. El Perro Del Mar – KoKoro

17. Tasseomancy – Do Easy

18. La Femme – Mystère

19. Anonymous Choir – Anonymous Choir Sings STAX

20. Plaid – The Digging Remedy
